Death By Chocolate Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/3 c Kahlua .
  • 1/2 c cold water .
  • 1 tsp vanilla .
  • 3/4 c sour milk or buttermilk .
  • 2 tsps baking soda .
  • 1 1/2 c sugar .
  • 1/2 c cocoa .
  • 3 Skor candy bars (chocolate-covered english toffee bars) .
  • 2 1/2 c flour .
  • Cake .
  • 2 eggs .
  • Layers .
  • 2 c heavy whipping cream .
  • 2/3 c butter .
  • 2 (3 1/2 oz) packages chocolate mousse mix

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 350°F Mix together water, cocoa & baking soda.
  • Step #2 Set aside.
  • Step #3 Cream together butter & sugar.
  • Step #4 Beat in eggs Add flour, milk, & cocoa mixture.
  • Step #5 Add vanilla & mix well.
  • Step #6 Bake in greased & floured 9x13” cake pan 30 min With fork, puncture top of baked cake & drizzle with kahlua.
  • Step #7 Cover up with saran wrap & rest overnight.
  • Step #8 Prepare mousse according to package directions.
  • Step #9 Crumble cake into large pieces.
  • Step #10 Finely chop Skor bars.
  • Step #11 Whip cream.
  • Step #12 In a large glass trifle dish, layer cake, whipped cream, mousse, & Skor bars (in that order).
  • Step #13 Repeat.
  • Step #14 Refrigerate (best served a day or two after making).
