Big Angel Biscuits Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tsp salt .
  • 1/4 c warm water .
  • 2 tbsps sugar .
  • 2 1/2 c flour .
  • 1 c buttermilk .
  • 1 tsp baking powder .
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda .
  • 1/2 c shortening .
  • 1 (1/4 oz) package yeast

Directions
  • Step #1 Dissolve the yeast in the warm water & set aside.
  • Step #2 Mix dry ingredients in order given & cut in shortening until dry & crumbly.
  • Step #3 Stir in the yeast-water mixture & buttermilk; mix thoroughly.
  • Step #4 At this point you can cover & put in the fridge until ready or make the biscuits now.
  • Step #5 Turn onto a floured surface & knead lightly, then roll fairly thick (about 1/2 inch) & cut with biscuit cutters; place on a greased pan.
  • Step #6 Let biscuits rise slightly (about 15 mins) & bake in a 400F degree F oven until lightly browned.
  • Step #7 (about 8-12 mins).
