Chicken And Biscuit Casserole Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tsps dried basil
  • 2/3 c milk
  • 4 c chicken broth
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 (10 oz) can peas, drained
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 c sliced onion
  • 2 tsps white sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/2 c all-purpose flour
  • 2 c buttermilk baking mix
  • 1/2 c sliced celery
  • 1/2 c sliced baby carrots

  • 4 c sliced, cooked chicken meat
  • 1/4 c butter

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Step #2 Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Step #3 In a skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat.
  • Step #4 Cook & stir the garlic, celery, onion, & carrots in butter until tender.
  • Step #5 Mix in the flour, salt, sugar, 1 tsp dried basil, & pepper.
  • Step #6 Stir in broth, & bring to a boil.
  • Step #7 Stirring constantly, reduce heat, boil 1 min, & stir in the peas.
  • Step #8 Simmer 5 mins, then mix in chicken.
  • Step #9 Transfer mixture to the prepared baking dish.
  • Step #10 In a medium bowl, mix the baking mix & 2 tsps dried basil.
  • Step #11 Stir in milk to form a dough.
  • Step #12 Divide the dough into 6 to 8 balls.
  • Step #13 On floured wax paper, use the palm of your hand to flatten each ball of dough into a circular shape; place on top of chicken mixture.
  • Step #14 Bake in the preheated oven for 30 mins.
  • Step #15 Cover with foil, & bake for 10 more mins.
  • Step #16 To serve, spoon chicken mixture over biscuits.
