Step #2 Combine the sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, & salt.
Step #3 Mix lightly through the apples.
Step #4 Heap into a pastry-lined 9" pie plate.
Step #5 Dot with butter.
Step #6 Adjust top crust & flute the edges; cut vents.
Step #7 Bake in a 425F degree oven 50-60 mins or till crust is browned & apples are done.
Step #8 NOTE: I put thin strips of aluminum foil wrap around the edges of the pie before I bake it so that the edges don't burn; I take them off the last 10 mins or so, just to make sure they are browned up.
