Chocolate Brownies With Fewer Calories Recipe

Ingredients
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1 tbsp confectioners' sugar for dusting
  • 2/3 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 6 (1 oz) squares semisweet chocolate, sliced
  • 1/2 c boiling water
  • 2/3 c white sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking powder

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Step #2 Lightly grease an 8x8 inch baking pan.
  • Step #3 Melt chocolate in a large heat proof bowl over a pan of simmering water or in a microwave oven.
  • Step #4 Stir frequently until smooth then stir in the the boiling water.
  • Step #5 Remove from heat & set aside to cool slightly.
  • Step #6 Whisk the egg whites & vanilla into the chocolate mixture.
  • Step #7 Combine the sugar, flour, baking powder & salt; stir in theto the chocolate mixture just until mixed.
  • Step #8 Spread evenly into the prepared pan.
  • Step #9 Bake for 20 to 25 mins in the preheated oven, or until the edges pull away from the sides of the pan.
  • Step #10 Let cool completely before cutting into squares & dusting with confectioners' sugar.
