Greek Turkey Burgers Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground turkey .
  • 2 tbsps onions, finely sliced .
  • 2 medium tomatoes, sliced (optional) .
  • 1/4 c onions, finely sliced .
  • 1/8 tsp pepper .
  • 1 1/2 c lettuce, sliced (optional) .
  • 1 tsp garlic powder .
  • 1 garlic clove, pressed .
  • 1 1/2 tsps dried oregano leaves .
  • 1 egg white .
  • 1/2 tsp salt .
  • 6 pita bread rounds .
  • 16 oz plain yogurt .
  • 1/4 c croutons, crushed .
  • 1 c cucumbers, sliced

Directions
  • Step #1 Combine turkey, salt & pepper, garlic clove, croutons, 1/4 c yogurt, egg white, 1 tsp oregano, & 1/4 c onion.
  • Step #2 Mix well & form into 1/2" thick patties.
  • Step #3 Cook turkey patties 10-12 mins in a skillet (lightly greased with olive oil).
  • Step #4 When cooked, dice into smaller pieces (otherwise they won't fit into the pitas well).
  • Step #5 To make the sauce: mix 2 tbsps onion, 1/2 tsp oregano, 1 tsp garlic powder, & at least half of the cucumbers into the remaining yogurt.
  • Step #6 Cut pitas in half & fill each with some sliced burger, lettuce, tomato, & cucumbers.
  • Step #7 Top with the yogurt sauce.
  • Step #8 These pitas become quite stuffed so you may not need all the veggies.
