New York White Pizza Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tbsps extra-virgin olive oil .
  • 3/4 c whole milk ricotta cheese .
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano .
  • 1 (12 inch) pizza dough (preferably New York-style pizza dough) .
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic .
  • 1 3/4 c whole-milk mozzarella cheese, coarsely shredded

Directions
  • Step #1 Position an oven rack on the second-lowest level in the oven & place a baking stone on the rack; position another rack in the upper third of the oven; preheat your trusty oven to 500°.
  • Step #2 Coat a 12-inch pizza screen or perforated pizza pan with cooking spray.
  • Step #3 Lay the dough on the prepared screen or pan & carefully stretch dough into a 12-inch round.
  • Step #4 Top the pizza: brush the dough with 1 tbsp olive oil; spread the ricotta evenly over the dough, leaving a ¼-inch border.
  • Step #5 Sprinkle top the garlic over the top; sprinkle the mozzarella over the top.
  • Step #6 Crush the oregano between your fingers & sprinkle evenly over the cheese & crust.
  • Step #7 Drizzle the remaining 1 tbsp olive oil over the top.
  • Step #8 Place the pizza in the oven on the upper rack; bake about 8 mins, until the crust is crisp & golden brown.
  • Step #9 Using a pizza peel, lift the pizza off the screen/pan & place the crust directly on the baking stone; remove the screen/pan from the oven.
  • Step #10 Continue baking the pizza until the bottom of the crust is golden, about 3 mins.
  • Step #11 Using the peel, remove the pizza from the oven & transfer to a cutting board.
  • Step #12 Slice pizza into wedges & serve as soon as possible.
