Peach Whirligigs Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon .
  • 2 c water .
  • 2 tbsps white sugar .
  • 1 1/2 c white sugar .
  • 2 tbsps cornstarch .
  • 2 tbsps margarine, melted .
  • 1 1/3 c buttermilk baking mix .
  • 1/4 c white sugar .
  • 5 large fresh peaches, peeled pitted & sliced .
  • 1/3 c milk .
  • 2 tbsps margarine, softened

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 425F degrees.
  • Step #2 In large saucepan over med-heat/flame, water, mix peaches, 1 ½ c sugar & cornstarch.
  • Step #3 Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture boils.
  • Step #4 Boil for one min, then reduce heat to low to keep warm.
  • Step #5 In a large bowl, 2 tbsps sugar, stir this together baking mix, melted margarine & milk to form a soft dough.
  • Step #6 Remove to floured surface & knead 8 to 10 times.
  • Step #7 Roll out into a 9 inch square.
  • Step #8 Spread softened margarine over dough.
  • Step #9 Combine ¼ c sugar with cinnamon, & sprinkle mixture over dough.
  • Step #10 Roll dough into a log shape & cut into 6—1 ½ inch slices.
  • Step #11 Pour hot peach mixture into an 8x8 inch baking dish.
  • Step #12 Place roll slices, cut side up, on top of peach mixture.
  • Step #13 Bake in preheated oven 20 to 25 mins, until puffed & golden.
  • Step #14 Serve warm & top this with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
