French Toast [gluten-free, Lactose & Casein Free] Recipe

Ingredients
  • 4 slices gluten free bread .
  • Optional .
  • 2 tsps honey .
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon .
  • 1/4 c almond milk or rice milk or soy milk (plain or vanilla) .
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract .
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg .
  • 2 medium eggs .
  • 1/4 tsp salt .
  • 2 tbsps orange juice .
  • 2 tbsps ghee or margarine

Directions
  • Step #1 Whisk together all ingredients except ghee/butter/margarine & bread in a pie pan or small baking dish until thoroughly mixed.
  • Step #2 Heat ghee, butter or margarine in non-stick pan or griddle over medium-high heat.
  • Step #3 If you're using a dense bread, such as those from Food for Life, Soak for 3-5 mins on each side.
  • Step #4 If you're using a homemade bread or a softer or more crumbly bread, soak for only 1-2 mins on each side.
  • Step #5 Using a fork or tongs, remove each slice of bread from the liquid & allow excess liquid to drip off.
  • Step #6 Place in hot ghee/butter/margarine & cook on each side until browned.
  • Step #7 Serve as soon as possible with maple syrup, jam and/or fresh fruit.
