Ingredients
3 tbsps sliced fresh parsley .
1 tbsp sliced fresh oregano leaves or 1/2 tsp dried oregano leaves .
1 medium onion, sliced (1/2 c) .
1/4 c grated parmesan cheese .
12 uncooked lasagna noodles (12 oz) .
1 lb bulk reduced-fat Italian sausage .
1 (15 oz) container reduced-fat ricotta cheese (2 c) or 1 small curd cream-style cottage cheese (2 c) .
1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce .
1 garlic clove, finely sliced .
2 c shredded reduced-fat mozzarella cheese (8 oz) .
1 tbsp sliced fresh basil leaves or 1 tsp dried basil leaves .
2 c progresso sliced tomatoes, undrained (from 28-oz can) .
1 tsp sugar .
1/4 c grated parmesan cheese
Directions
Step #1 Cook sausage, onion & garlic in 10-inch skillet over med-heat/flame, stirring every once in awhile, until sausage is no longer pink; drain.
Step #2 Stir in 2 tbsps of the parsley, the basil, sugar, tomatoes & tomato sauce.
Step #3 Heat to boiling, stirring every once in awhile; reduce heat to low.
Step #4 Simmer uncovered about 45 mins or until slightly thickened.
Step #5 Heat oven to 350ºF.
Step #6 Cook & drain noodles as directed on package.
Step #7 Mix ricotta cheese, 1/4 c Parmesan cheese, remaining 1 tbsp parsley & the oregano.
Step #8 Spread 1 c of the sauce mixture in ungreased rectangular baking dish, 13x9x2 inches.
Step #9 Top with 4 noodles.
Step #10 Spread 1 c of the cheese mixture over noodles; spread with 1 c of the sauce mixture.
Step #11 Sprinkle top with 2/3 c of the mozzarella cheese.
Step #12 Repeat with 4 noodles, the remaining cheese mixture, 1 c of the sauce mixture & 2/3 c of the mozzarella cheese.
Step #13 Top with remaining noodles & sauce mixture.
Step #14 Sprinkle top with remaining mozzarella cheese & 1/4 c Parmesan cheese.
Step #15 Cover up & bake 30 mins.
Step #16 Uncover & bake about 15 mins longer or until hot & bubbly.
Step #17 Let stand 15 mins before cutting.
