Ingredients
1/2 c onions, finely sliced (walla walla or vidalia preferred) .
6 tbsps oil, deep enough to cover wontons half way .
1 (8 oz) box cream cheese, softened on counter .
20 wonton wrappers .
salt, to taste .
8 oz imitation crabmeat .
2 tbsps butter .
black pepper, to taste
Directions
Step #1 Soften cream cheese on counter while prepping onions & cooking mixture.
Step #2 In skillet sauté onions, butter, crab with salt & pepper until onions are translucent.
Step #3 Immediately stir hot mixture into softened cream cheese until thoroughly mixed & creamy.
Step #4 Spoon small amount of mixture into middle of each wonton.
Step #5 Moisten fingertips & apply to edges of wrappers, then press together to close forming a triangular shape (folded in half).
Step #6 Bring outer tips together & press to loosely form a pointed fortune cookie shape.
Step #7 Heat oil in skillet (medium to medium high), & place wontons in hot oil.
Step #8 Turn a couple of times until all sides are lightly golden brown.
Step #9 Watch closely as they will turn dark very quickly.
Step #10 ;).
Step #11 When done place on a paper towel lined plate to drain; repeat until all are cooked.
Step #12 Serve with sweet chili sauce for dipping.
