Special Mac And Cheese For A Crowd Recipe

Ingredients
  • salt, to taste .
  • 1/2 c croutons, crushed .
  • 1 tbsp oil .
  • 4 c milk .
  • 1/4 c flour .
  • 3 oz cream cheese .
  • pepper, to taste .
  • 3 c ham, sliced .
  • 2 tbsps butter .
  • 1 lb macaroni .
  • 1 tsp ground mustard .
  • 1 (10 oz) bag frozen peas .
  • garlic salt, to taste .
  • 2 c cheddar cheese

Directions
  • Step #1 Boil macaroni in water with 1 Tbsp oil in very large pot until tender.
  • Step #2 Add frozen peas for last min of boiling time.
  • Step #3 Drain.
  • Step #4 Keep warm.
  • Step #5 While macaroni is boiling, melt butter in medium sized bowl in microwave.
  • Step #6 Add flour to butter & stir until most of lumps are gone.
  • Step #7 Add milk all at once & stir this to get butter paste incorporated.
  • Step #8 Micowave on high 8 to 10 mins.
  • Step #9 Stirring every 2 mins.
  • Step #10 After first 2 mins add cream cheese.
  • Step #11 Continue to stir every 2 mins until cream cheese is melted in & sauce becomes thick.
  • Step #12 Add 1-1/2 c cheese & stir until melted.
  • Step #13 Mix in salt, pepper, garlic salt & ground mustard.
  • Step #14 Add to macaroni mixture & stir until sauce is mixed well.
  • Step #15 Pour into a 9 x 13 casserole.
  • Step #16 You will probably have enough to fill it & then some.
  • Step #17 I use two or three 8 x 8 squares.
  • Step #18 Top with extra cheese & crushed croutons, bake 30 mins at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Step #19 If freezing, leave out last step until ready to bake.
