Chop Suey Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tsps soy sauce
  • 1 tsp white sugar
  • 1 c sliced celery
  • 1/8 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 c sliced pork loin
  • 1 c sliced onion
  • 1 (14.5 oz) can bean sprouts, drained & rinsed
  • 1 c hot water
  • 1/3 c cold water
  • 1/4 c shortening
  • 2 tbsps cornstarch

Directions
  • Step #1 Heat shortening in a large, deep skillet.
  • Step #2 Sear pork until it turns white, then add onion & saute for 5 mins.
  • Step #3 Add celery, hot water, salt & pepper.
  • Step #4 Cover skillet & let simmer for 5 mins.
  • Step #5 Add sprouts & heat to boiling.
  • Step #6 In a small bowl mix the cold water, cornstarch, soy sauce & sugar.
  • Step #7 Mix together & add to skillet mixture.
  • Step #8 Cook for 5 mins, or until thickened to taste.
  • Step #9 .
