Delilah's Frosted Cut Out Sugar Cookies Recipe

Ingredients
  •  
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3/4 c butter flavored shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 3 tbsps milk
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 1/2 c confectioners' sugar
  • 1 c white sugar
  • 2 drops any color food coloring

Directions
  • Step #1 In a large bowl, cream together the shortening & white sugar until smooth.
  • Step #2 Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the the milk & 1 tsp vanilla.
  • Step #3 Combine the flour, baking powder, & salt; stir in theto the creamed mixture.
  • Step #4 Cover dough, & chill for at least one hr.
  • Step #5 Preheat the oven to 400F degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Step #6 Lightly grease cookie sheets, or line with parchment paper.
  • Step #7 On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to 1/4 inch in thickness.
  • Step #8 Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters.
  • Step #9 Place cookies 1 1/2 inches apart onto cookie sheets.
  • Step #10 Bake for 6 to 8 mins in the preheated oven.
  • Step #11 Remove cookies from baking sheets to cool on wire racks.
  • Step #12 Cool completely before frosting.
  • Step #13 In a small bowl, beat the butter, 1 tsp vanilla & confectioners' sugar until smooth.
  • Step #14 Mix in the milk one tbsp at a time until a good spreading consistency is reached.
  • Step #15 Stir in food coloring to desired shade.
  • Step #16 Decorate cooled cookies, & set on waxed paper to harden.
