Cinnamon Apple Angel Food Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 c confectioners' sugar
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsps cream of tartar
  • 3 tbsps apple juice or cider
  • 1 1/2 c confectioners' sugar
  • 1 1/2 c egg whites
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 c cake flour
  •  
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 c butter or margarine
  • GLAZE:

Directions
  • Step #1 In a mixing bowl, beat egg whites, cream of tartar & salt on medium speed until soft peaks form.
  • Step #2 Add sugar, 2 tbsps at a time, beating well after each addition; beat until smooth & glossy & stiff peaks form.
  • Step #3 Add extracts on lowish speed.
  • Step #4 Combine confectioners' sugar & flour; carefully fold into egg mixture.
  • Step #5 Pour into an ungreased 10-in.
  • Step #6 tub pan.
  • Step #7 Bake on the lowest rack at 375 degrees F for 35-40 mins or until top crust is golden brown & cracks feel dry.
  • Step #8 Immediately invert cake in pan to cool completely.
  • Step #9 Loosen sides of cake from pan & remove.
  • Step #10 For glaze, melt butter in a saucepan.
  • Step #11 Stir in the confectioners' sugar & cinnamon.
  • Step #12 Add apple juice slowly until glaze is thin enough to drizzle.
  • Step #13 Drizzle over cake.
