Brown Sugar, Molasses, Nut Cookies (christmas) Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 c ground aniseed .
  • 2 c molasses .
  • 8 c flour .
  • 4 tsps cinnamon .
  • 2 c nuts, sliced .
  • 4 eggs .
  • decorative candies (optional) .
  • 2 tsps allspice .
  • 1/2 c boiling water .
  • 2 3/4 tsps baking soda, dissolved in .
  • 2 c shortening or lard, melted .
  • powdered sugar, to ice .
  • 3/4 tsp salt .
  • 2 c dark brown sugar, packed .
  • 2 1/2 tsps cloves

Directions
  • Step #1 In a large bowl, shortening, cream together the sugar, molasses, & eggs until smooth.
  • Step #2 Mix in all remaining ingredients, beating well.
  • Step #3 Cover up & put in the fridge until firm enough to handle (2 1/2 hrs to overnight).
  • Step #4 Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • Step #5 Roll out dough (small amounts at a time) on well-floured surface until 1/8-inch thick.
  • Step #6 Cut with cookie cutters.
  • Step #7 Bake until golden brown (10-15 mins).
  • Step #8 Dust with powdered sugar.
  • Step #9 Decorate with colored candies.
