Ultimate Triple Onion Tart Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 vidalia onions, halved & thinly sliced (or other sweet onion) .
  • 2/3 c whipping cream .
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper .
  • 1 (15 oz) package rolled unbaked put in the fridged pie crusts .
  • 2 shallots, thinly sliced .
  • 3/4 c shredded monterey jack pepper cheese .
  • 3 oz cream cheese, cubed & softened .
  • 1 tsp sugar .
  • 3/4 c shredded swiss cheese .
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg .
  • 3 eggs, lightly beaten .
  • 1/4 c butter .
  • 1 large leek, halved lengthwise & thinly sliced

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 375°F Let pie crust stand according to package directions.
  • Step #2 In a 12-inch skillet heat butter over med-heat/flame; add onion, nutmeg, sugar, shallots, leek, pepper, & 3/4 tsps salt.
  • Step #3 Cook about 8 mins or until tender but not browned, stirring every once in awhile.
  • Step #4 Reduce heat.
  • Step #5 Stir in cream cheese until melted.
  • Step #6 Stir in Swiss & Monterey Jack cheeses until mixd.
  • Step #7 In a large bowl mix eggs & cream.
  • Step #8 Gradually stir in the onion mixture until mixd.
  • Step #9 Ease pie crust into 9-inch pie plate; pour onion mixture into pie crust.
  • Step #10 Fold edge of crust over filling, pleating as necessary.
  • Step #11 Bake, uncovered, about 40 mins or until crust & top are golden brown & a knife inserted near center comes out clean.
  • Step #12 Cool on a wire rack for 15 to 20 mins.
  • Step #13 Cut in 16 wedges.
  • Step #14 Serve warm.
