Ingredients
3/4 tsp dried Italian seasoning .
1 1/2 c warm water (110 to 115 degrees) .
1/2 c grated parmesan cheese, divided .
1/2 tsp instant minced garlic (McCormick) .
1/2 tsp garlic salt, for sprinkling on tops (to taste) .
4 1/2-5 1/2 c all-purpose flour .
1/2 c warm milk (110-115 degrees) .
6 tbsps butter, divided & melted .
1/2 tsp kosher salt .
2 tbsps sugar .
2 (1/4 oz) packages active dry yeast
Directions
Step #1 In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water & let it sit until bubbly, about 7-8 mins.
Step #2 Add the milk, 3 tbsps butter, sugar, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, & 2 c flour.
Step #3 Beat until smooth.
Step #4 Stir in 1/4 c parmesan cheese & enough remaining flour to form a soft dough.
Step #5 Knead with bread hook for 7-8 mins adding extra flour as needed.
Step #6 Turn onto a floured surface & knead about 10-15 times.
Step #7 Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top.
Step #8 Cover up & let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 45 mins.
Step #9 Punch the dough down & let it rest a couple of mins.
Step #10 For thin bread sticks, divide into 36 pieces.
Step #11 (This is very versatile here.
Step #12 You can make them as small or as large as you want.
Step #13 I cut mine into 18 pieces for a larger breadstick).
Step #14 Shape each piece into a 6 inch rope.
Step #15 Place 2 inches apart on a greased baking sheet.
Step #16 Cover up & let rise until doubled, about 25-35 mins.
Step #17 Melt remaining butter & brush over the dough.
Step #18 Sprinkle top with Parmesan cheese & garlic salt.
Step #19 Bake at 400F degrees for 8-10 mins or until golden brown.
Step #20 Remove from pans to wire racks.
