Granola Bars Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c raisins (optional) or chocolate chips (optional) .
  • 1/4 c margarine .
  • 1/2 c brown sugar .
  • 1/4 c honey .
  • 1/2 c applesauce .
  • 1/2 tsp salt .
  • 3 c cereal .
  • 1 c flour .
  • 3 c oatmeal .
  • 1 tsp cinnamon .
  • 1 tsp baking soda .
  • 1 egg

Directions
  • Step #1 Heat oven to 350.
  • Step #2 Melt margarine.
  • Step #3 Add honey, applesauce, brown sugar & egg.
  • Step #4 Add flour, soda, cinnamon, salt & oatmeal.
  • Step #5 Dough will be sticky & stiff.
  • Step #6 Add dry cereal.
  • Step #7 I used a bran flake type that had added dried strawberries & strawberry yogurt chips.
  • Step #8 Add raisins or chocolate chips if desired.
  • Step #9 Press into 9x13 pan.
  • Step #10 This is easier if you use your fingertips -- wet them slightly first.
  • Step #11 Bake 20 mins.
  • Step #12 Cut into bars.
  • Step #13 Note -- I left out the optional raisins, but sprinkled one c of peanut butter chips over top after baking, then spread them over the surface after they melted slightly.
  • Step #14 Store individually wrapped in waxed paper for easy snacking.
