Chile Verde (green Chile Sauce) Recipe

Ingredients

1 tbsp shortening .
1 c chicken broth, with liquid or 2 c tomatoes, with liquid .
3/4 tsp salt .
1/2 c sliced onions .
1/4 tsp garlic powder or 1-2 garlic clove .
2 tbsps flour .
1 c sliced green chilies, to taste

Directions

Step #1 Heat shortening in medium-sized skillet on medium heat.
Step #2 Saute the onions in shortening.
Step #3 Add flour & cook for 1 min.
Step #4 Add all remaining ingredients & let simmer for 20 mins.
