• 1 tbsp shortening .
• 1 c chicken broth, with liquid or 2 c tomatoes, with liquid .
• 3/4 tsp salt .
• 1/2 c sliced onions .
• 1/4 tsp garlic powder or 1-2 garlic clove .
• 2 tbsps flour .
• 1 c sliced green chilies, to taste

• Step #1 Heat shortening in medium-sized skillet on medium heat.
• Step #2 Saute the onions in shortening.
• Step #3 Add flour & cook for 1 min.
• Step #4 Add all remaining ingredients & let simmer for 20 mins.
