North Pole Cherry Pie Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 c coarsely crushed pretzel sticks (about 5 oz) .
  • 1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling .
  • 2 pints vanilla ice cream .
  • 1/2 c butter, softened .
  • 1 tsp almond extract

Directions
  • Step #1 Combine pretzel crumbs with butter, mix well, & pat into bottom & sides of a 9” pie plate.
  • Step #2 Chill about 1 hr.
  • Step #3 Soften ice cream slightly, spoon into shell & freeze until firm (at least 1 hr).
  • Step #4 About 20 mins before serving, mix cherry filling & almond extract, spread over pie & return to the freezer 15 mins.
  • Step #5 Remove pie; let sit at room temp about 5 mins until just soft enough to cut into wedges.
  • Step #6 Alternative: Refrigerate cherry pie filling while pie freezes; mix w/ almond extract & spread on pie 5 mins before serving.
