Dutch Baby Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla .
  • 1/4 c powdered sugar (to taste) .
  • 1/8 tsp salt (pinch) .
  • 1 c milk (room temperature) .
  • 6 eggs (room temperature) .
  • whipped cream (to taste) .
  • 3 tbsps butter .
  • 1 c all-purpose flour .
  • lemon wedges (to taste) .
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
  • Step #2 Place a 10-inch cast-iron skillet or ovenproof frying pan in the oven to preheat.
  • Step #3 While the pan is preheating, prepare the batter.
  • Step #4 In a large bowl, beat the eggs until light & frothy.
  • Step #5 Add the milk, vanilla, flour, cinnamon, & salt.
  • Step #6 Beat well to mix.
  • Step #7 The batter should be thin, but smooth & creamy.
  • Step #8 Carefully remove the hot skillet from the oven & coat it with the butter.
  • Step #9 Pour the prepared batter into the skillet all at once, & as soon as possible return the skillet to the oven.
  • Step #10 Bake for 15-20 mins, or until puffed & golden brown.
  • Step #11 Serve as soon as possible, dusting the Dutch Baby with powdered sugar & whipped cream.
  • Step #12 Optional, squirt some lemon juice over the ducth baby as you eat it.
