Dark Chocolate Chess Pie Recipe

Ingredients
  • whipped cream (optional) .
  • 6 eggs .
  • 2 (9 inch) unbaked pie crusts, in glass baking dishes .
  • 6 oz dark chocolate .
  • 1 c butter .
  • 12 oz evaporated milk .
  • 2 tsps vanilla .
  • 2 tbsps flour .
  • 3 c sugar

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 400F degrees.
  • Step #2 Bake both pie crusts blind for 8 mins.
  • Step #3 Remove from oven to rack.
  • Step #4 Decrease oven temperature to 375 degrees.
  • Step #5 In large saucepan on low melt butter & chocolate, stirring every once in awhile.
  • Step #6 In medium bowl, mix sugar & flour with wire whisk.
  • Step #7 In another bowl, whisk together eggs, vanilla & evaporated milk.
  • Step #8 Add a couple of tbspfuls of the melted chocolate mixture to the egg mixture & stir.
  • Step #9 Add both sugar & egg mixtures to pan of melted chocolate.
  • Step #10 Stir to mix.
  • Step #11 Increase heat to medium & stir constantly for 10 mins.
  • Step #12 Evenly divide filling between the 2 pie pans.
  • Step #13 Bake for 30 mins.
  • Step #14 Makes 2 Pies.
  • Step #15 (One to share & one to eat?) Serve with whipped cream.
