1 garlic clove, at the least, more is at your discretion .
1 tbsp good paprika (optional) .
1 lb ground beef
Directions
Step #1 Prep - cook the rice until half done.
Step #2 Set aside to cool.
Step #3 Sour cabbage is just that, sour.
Step #4 Very tangy, soaking the head in cold water will tone down tang.
Step #5 Separating the leaves & soaking the leaves will mellow the taste even more.
Step #6 Allow all meat come to about room temp.
Step #7 Or at least till the chill is off.
Step #8 Mince onion, garlic & bacon.
Step #9 Keep these separate & divide the garlic in half.
Step #10 In a large bowl mix beef, onions, pork & bacon along with the rice, half the garlic & spices as desired.
Step #11 Gently mix vegetable & spices with meat.
Step #12 To make rolls take one leaf, Place a dollop of the meat mixture on leaf.
Step #13 Fold bottom of leaf up over meat then fold sides in & roll.
Step #14 Place rolls in a roaster or dutch oven.
Step #15 Add the tomatoey stuff & enough water to just cover the rolls.
Step #16 While the rolls can be cooked at 350f for a couple of hrs & turn out quite edible, cooking at 250f for 5-6 hrs will produce a mellower flavour & more tender cabbage & is recommended.
