Overnight Marmalade French Toast Brunch Casserole Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 3/4 c full-fat milk .
  • 1/3-1/2 c sugar .
  • 2 tsps vanilla .
  • 20-25 slices bread (about 1-inch thick, bread must be stale but not hard) .
  • 1 (12 oz) jar orange marmalade (room temperature) .
  • 1/2 c finely sliced walnuts or pecans (can use more) .
  • 1/8-1/4 tsp ground nutmeg .
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon .
  • softened butter .
  • 1-2 tbsp sugar .
  • 6 large eggs

Directions
  • Step #1 Butter a 13 x 9-inch baking dish.
  • Step #2 Spread softened butter lightly over each slice of bread.
  • Step #3 Arrange 12 bread slices buttered side down overlapping slightly in the baking dish.
  • Step #4 Spread the room temperature marmalade over the bread slices.
  • Step #5 Top with remaining bread slices buttered side down.
  • Step #6 In a bowl whisk together the milk with sugar, vanilla, nutmeg & eggs until well mixd then pour over the bread.
  • Step #7 Cover up & put in the fridge for 8-24 hres.
  • Step #8 When ready to bake set oven to 375 degrees.
  • Step #9 In a small c or bowl mix together the 1-2 tbsps sugar with cinnamon & nuts, then sprinkle on top of the bread.
  • Step #10 Bake for about 45-60 mins or until golden brown & set.
  • Step #11 Let stand for 10 mins before serving.
  • Step #12 Sprinkle top the nuts over the casserole.
