Ingredients
2 3/4 c full-fat milk .
1/3-1/2 c sugar .
2 tsps vanilla .
20-25 slices bread (about 1-inch thick, bread must be stale but not hard) .
1 (12 oz) jar orange marmalade (room temperature) .
1/2 c finely sliced walnuts or pecans (can use more) .
1/8-1/4 tsp ground nutmeg .
1/2 tsp cinnamon .
softened butter .
1-2 tbsp sugar .
6 large eggs
Directions
Step #1 Butter a 13 x 9-inch baking dish.
Step #2 Spread softened butter lightly over each slice of bread.
Step #3 Arrange 12 bread slices buttered side down overlapping slightly in the baking dish.
Step #4 Spread the room temperature marmalade over the bread slices.
Step #5 Top with remaining bread slices buttered side down.
Step #6 In a bowl whisk together the milk with sugar, vanilla, nutmeg & eggs until well mixd then pour over the bread.
Step #7 Cover up & put in the fridge for 8-24 hres.
Step #8 When ready to bake set oven to 375 degrees.
Step #9 In a small c or bowl mix together the 1-2 tbsps sugar with cinnamon & nuts, then sprinkle on top of the bread.
Step #10 Bake for about 45-60 mins or until golden brown & set.
Step #11 Let stand for 10 mins before serving.
Step #12 Sprinkle top the nuts over the casserole.
