Mocha Layer Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 tsp salt .
  • 4 eggs .
  • 3 c packed brown sugar .
  • 1 c butter, softened .
  • 1/2 c brewed coffee, cooled .
  • 3 tsps vanilla extract .
  • 3 tsps vanilla extract .
  • Frosting .
  • 2 (8 oz) packages cream cheese, softened .
  • 3 c flour .
  • 1 1/2 c brewed coffee, cooled .
  • 6 c confectioners' sugar .
  • 1/2 (1 oz) unsweetened chocolate squares, melted .
  • 1 1/3 c sour cream .
  • 3/4 c baking cocoa .
  • 3 tsps baking soda

Directions
  • Step #1 In large mixing bowl, cream butter & brown sugar.
  • Step #2 Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Step #3 Stir in vanilla.
  • Step #4 Combine the flour, cocoa, baking soda & salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with coffee & sour cream.
  • Step #5 Pour into three greased & floured 9-inch round baking pans.
  • Step #6 Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 mins or until toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
  • Step #7 Cool for 10 mins before removing from pans to wire racks to cool.
  • Step #8 In a large mixing bowl, beat cream cheese & butter until fluffy.
  • Step #9 Beat in the chocolate, coffee & vanilla until mixed.
  • Step #10 Gradually beat in confectioners' sugar.
  • Step #11 Spread between layers & over top & sides of cake.
  • Step #12 Cover up & put in the fridge until serving.
