Caramel Layer Chocolate Squares Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 (18 1/4 oz) package German chocolate cake mix .
  • 1 c chocolate chips .
  • 3/4 c evaporated milk, divided .
  • 1 (14 oz) package caramels

Directions
  • Step #1 Combine caramels & half of evaporated milk.
  • Step #2 Cook over low heat/flame, stirring often until melted & smooth.
  • Step #3 Grease 9x13-inch pan.
  • Step #4 Combine dry cake mix, butter & the rest of the evaporated milk & chocolate chips.
  • Step #5 Stir just until mixed.
  • Step #6 Press half of dough firmly in pan.
  • Step #7 Bake 6 mins at 350°F.
  • Step #8 Spread caramel mixture over all.
  • Step #9 Top with remaining half of dough.
  • Step #10 Spread carefully to cover.
  • Step #11 Bake at 350°F for 15 mins.
