Butternut Squash And Apples Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 tsp salt .
  • 1/4 c brown sugar .
  • 1/4 c butter .
  • 3 lbs butternut squash, halved & seeded .
  • 2 tbsps butter, melted .
  • 1-2 tbsp sugar .
  • 1 1/2 c corn flakes, slightly crushed .
  • 1 tbsp butter .
  • 3-4 medium apples (Jonathan or Macintosh work well) .
  • 1/2 c pecans, sliced .
  • 1 dash pepper .
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

Directions
  • Step #1 Make nutty topping: mix corn flakes, pecans, brown sugar & 2 T.
  • Step #2 melted butter in bowl.
  • Step #3 Mix & set aside.
  • Step #4 Place seeded squash halves In a large-ish baking pan with a small amount of water.
  • Step #5 Cover up & steam in 350 degree oven until tender, approximately 45 mins.
  • Step #6 Remove squash pulp from rind & mash.
  • Step #7 To this add 1/4 c butter, salt, pepper & brown sugar.
  • Step #8 Mix well.
  • Step #9 Peel, core & slice apples about 1/2 inch thick.
  • Step #10 Sprinkle top with 1-2 T.
  • Step #11 sugar & saute in 1 T.
  • Step #12 butter until slightly tender.
  • Step #13 Arrange apples in bottom of 2 1/2-3 quart baking dish.
  • Step #14 Spread squash over apples.
  • Step #15 Sprinkle top nutty topping over top.
  • Step #16 Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 mins.
