Melissa's Cornbread Dressing Recipe

Ingredients
  • 16 oz pepperidge farm herb seasoned stuffing mix .
  • 1 (10 1/2 oz) can cream of chicken soup .
  • 1/2 c water .
  • Cornbread ingredients (use crumbled for dressing) .
  • vegetable oil .
  • 1 tbsp sage (ADD MORE TO TASTE) .
  • 1/2 c milk .
  • 1 tbsp shortening .
  • 1 tsp salt .
  • 4 stalks celery (DICED) .
  • 1 c cornmeal .
  • 1 tsp pepper .
  • 1 egg (boiled, sliced without yolk) .
  • 1 egg (beaten) .
  • 3 (14 oz) cans chicken broth .
  • 1 (10 1/2 oz) can cream of celery soup .
  • 1 egg (beaten) .
  • 1 small onion (DICED)

Directions
  • Step #1 CORNBREAD .
  • Step #2 Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • Step #3 In mixing bowl, water, egg, milk, mix cornmeal, & shortening; mix well.
  • Step #4 Add mixture to greased 9-inch baking pan.
  • Step #5 Cook 30 mins at 400°F (I usually make my cornbread a day ahead & let it set out overnight.
  • Step #6 stale cornbread seems to give it a better texture.

  • Step #9 Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Step #10 Add about 1/4 a can of chicken broth to a small saucepan.
  • Step #11 Add onion & celery.
  • Step #12 Cook on medium heat until boiling.
  • Step #13 Combine all ingredients in large bowl; mix well.
  • Step #14 Pour into baking pan.
  • Step #15 Cover up & bake for 45 mins.
