Chicago Style Beef Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 (8 oz) jar giardiniera relish (optional) .
  • 3 green bell peppers (sliced in strips) .
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced (gravy ingredient) .
  • 1 (4-5 lb) boneless beef rump roast .
  • 2 (10 1/2 oz) cans beef broth (gravy ingredient) .
  • 1 tsp oregano (gravy ingredient) .
  • 1/2 tsp thyme (gravy ingredient) .
  • 1 tsp basil (gravy ingredient) .
  • 10 hoagie rolls .
  • 2 tbsps worcestershire sauce (gravy ingredient) .
  • 1 (8 oz) jar pepperoncini peppers .
  • 1 tsp marjoram (gravy ingredient)

Directions
  • Step #1 Heat oven to 325F degrees.
  • Step #2 Place the meat on the rack in a roasting pan & bake 2hrs.
  • Step #3 Let cool then slice very thin with electric knife.
  • Step #4 Pour the broth into the roasting pan, set over med-heat/flame on top of stove.
  • Step #5 Stir to loosen the brown bits.
  • Step #6 Add garlic, Worchestershire, marjoram, oregeno, bell peppers, basil & thyme.
  • Step #7 Bring to boil, reduce heat & let simmer for 20 mins.
  • Step #8 Add the meat, stirring to coat with gravy.
  • Step #9 Cover up & put in the fridge overnight(at lest 4 hrs).
  • Step #10 Reheat & serve on haogie rolls moistened with the gravy & layered with pepperoncini.
  • Step #11 Garnish with the optional Giardiniera Relish.
  • Step #12 ** gravy ingredients can be doubled.
