Strawberry Swirl Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 c sliced strawberries, divided .
  • 1 (18 oz) package white cake mix (plus ingredients to make cake as listed on box) .
  • 1 (8 oz) container Cool Whip Topping, thawed .
  • 1 (3 oz) package strawberry gelatin .
  • 2/3 c powdered sugar .
  • 2/3 c sour cream

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 350°F Grease two 8 or 9 inch round cake pans; set aside.
  • Step #2 Prepare cake batter as directed on package.
  • Step #3 Pour half of the batter into medium bowl.
  • Step #4 Add dry gelatin mix; stir until well mixed.
  • Step #5 Spoon half of the white batter & half of the pink batter, side by side, into each prepared pan.
  • Step #6 Lightly swirl batters together using a tsp.
  • Step #7 (Do not overswirl.
  • Step #8 ) Bake 30 mins.
  • Step #9 Cool 30 mins in pans.
  • Step #10 Remove to wire racks; cool completely.
  • Step #11 Mix sour cream & powdered sugar in medium bowl until well mixed.
  • Step #12 Gently stir in the whipped topping.
  • Step #13 Place one of the cake layers on serving plate; spread top this with 1 c of the whipped topping mixture.
  • Step #14 Top with 1 c of the strawberries & remaining cake layer.
  • Step #15 Spread top & side of cake with remaining whipped topping mixture.
  • Step #16 Top with remaining 1/2 c strawberries just before serving.
  • Step #17 Store leftover cake in refrigerator.
