Chocolate Mayonnaise Cake With Creamy Frosting Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tsps baking soda .
  • FOR THE CAKE .
  • 1 c water .
  • 2 c all-purpose flour .
  • 1 tsp vanilla .
  • 1 c butter or margarine, softened .
  • 1 tsp vanilla .
  • 1/4 c cocoa .
  • 1 c granulated sugar .
  • 1 c granulated sugar .
  • 1 c milk .
  • 2 tbsps all-purpose flour .
  • 1/4 tsp salt .
  • 1 c mayonnaise .
  • CREAMY FROSTING

Directions
  • Step #1 FOR THE CAKE: Preheat oven to 350°F Measure ingredients into mixing bowl in order given.
  • Step #2 Mix together well.
  • Step #3 Spread in greased 9 x 13 inch pan.
  • Step #4 Bake in oven for 30 mins until an inserted wooden pick comes out clean.
  • Step #5 FOR THE FROSTING: Whisk milk into flour in small saucepan until smooth.
  • Step #6 Heat & stir until it boils & thickens.
  • Step #7 Cool thoroughly.
  • Step #8 I strain this mixture through a sieve just to make sure it is very smooth.
  • Step #9 Cream butter, sugar & vanilla in bowl until light, white & fluffy.
  • Step #10 Add cooled thickened milk.
  • Step #11 Beat until mixture resembles whipped cream.
  • Step #12 Makes enough to fill & frost 2 layer cake, about 3 1/2 c.
