Oven-roasted Turkey Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tsps cornstarch .
  • 1 (4.5-5 lb) whole turkey breast, thawed if frozen .
  • 2 tbsps cold water .
  • 1 tsp paprika .
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely sliced .
  • 1/2 c butter or margarine, melted .
  • 1 tsp salt .
  • 2 tbsps sliced fresh thyme leaves or 1 1/2 tsps dried thyme leaves .
  • 1/4 c dry white wine or apple juice

Directions
  • Step #1 Heat oven to 325ºF.
  • Step #2 Place turkey, skin side up, on rack in large shallow roasting pan.
  • Step #3 Insert ovenproof meat thermometer so tip is in thickest part of meat & does not touch bone.
  • Step #4 Roast uncovered 1 hr.
  • Step #5 2.
  • Step #6 Mix butter, thyme, wine, salt, paprika & garlic.
  • Step #7 Brush turkey with half of the butter mixture.
  • Step #8 Roast 30 mins; brush with remaining butter mixture.
  • Step #9 Roast about 1 hr longer or until thermometer reads 180ºF & juice of turkey is no longer pink when center is cut.
  • Step #10 3.
  • Step #11 Remove turkey from oven & let this stand 15 mins for easier carving.

  • Step #13 Meanwhile, pour pan drippings into measuring c; skim fat from drippings.
  • Step #14 Add enough water to drippings to measure 2 c.
  • Step #15 Heat drippings to boiling in 1-quart saucepan.
  • Step #16 Mix cornstarch & 2 tbsps cold water; stir in theto drippings.
  • Step #17 Boil & stir 1 min.
  • Step #18 Serve with turkey.
