Grand Marnier French Toast Recipe

Ingredients
  • 8 French bread, sliced (3/4-inch-thick) .
  • 2 tbsps butter .
  • 2 tbsps butter .
  • warm maple syrup .
  • Condiments .
  • powdered sugar .
  • 1 tbsp orange peel, grated .
  • 3/4 c half-and-half .
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract .
  • 1/4 c Grand Marnier or frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed (or other orange-flavored liqueur) .
  • 2 tbsps sugar .
  • 4 large eggs

Directions
  • Step #1 Whisk first 6 ingredients to mix in medium bowl.
  • Step #2 Dip each bread slice into egg mixture & arrange in 13x9x2-inch glass baking dish.
  • Step #3 Pour remaining egg mixture evenly over bread.
  • Step #4 Let stand until egg mixture is absorbed, at least 20 mins.
  • Step #5 (Can be prepared 1 day ahead.
  • Step #6 Cover up & put in the fridge.
  • Step #7 ).
  • Step #8 Place baking sheet in oven & preheat to 350°F.
  • Step #9 Melt 2 tbsps butter in heavy large skillet over med-heat/flame.
  • Step #10 Add 4 bread slices to skillet & sauté until cooked through & brown, about 3 mins per side.
  • Step #11 Place on baking sheet in oven to keep warm.
  • Step #12 Repeat cooking with remaining 2 tbsps butter & 4 bread slices.
  • Step #13 Transfer French toast to 4 plates.
  • Step #14 Sift powdered sugar over.
  • Step #15 Serve with maple syrup.
