Step #5 BTW: The shaved frozen green pepper eliminates the grand kids objections to the "onions is kaka", but adds the flavor needed.

Step #7 Bring to a boil stiring frequently then reduce to a simmer.
Step #8 Simmer one hr -- or more if you have the time.
Step #9 Watch it & allow it to reduce to a thickness you would enjoy.

Step #11 Like most chili recipes, this one tastes better the second day & even better the third! Freezes well for ready made meals.

Step #13 As a variation, add a small can of V-8 juice if you'd like added salt & a hint of celery.
