Toffee Bars Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 c butter .
  • 1 egg yolk .
  • 8 Hershey chocolate candy bars .
  • 1 c brown sugar .
  • 1 c cake flour .
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions
  • Step #1 Cream butter & sugar, add slightly beaten egg yolk.
  • Step #2 Add flour & vanilla & beat well.
  • Step #3 Spread in greased pan (I use a jelly roll pan).
  • Step #4 Bake at 250 degrees until batter is slightly brown & firm enough not to jiggle when pan is shaken (about 30 mins).
  • Step #5 Remove from oven & as soon as possible lay the unwrapped Hershey bars on top.
  • Step #6 After 2 or 3 mins, spread the melted candy over the bars to form an icing.
  • Step #7 Let cool.
  • Step #8 I usually stick the pan in the fridge to speed this process up.
