One-skillet Spaghetti Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3/4 c sliced green peppers .
  • 2 medium onions, sliced (about 1 c) .
  • 2 tsps salt .
  • 1 tsp chili powder .
  • 1 lb ground beef .
  • 1 (28 oz) can tomatoes .
  • 1/2 c water .
  • 1 (7 oz) package thin spaghetti, broken into pieces .
  • 1 tsp sugar .
  • 1 c cheddar cheese (4 oz) .
  • 1 (4 oz) can mushroom stems & pieces, drained

Directions
  • Step #1 Cook & stir meat & onions in large skillet or dutch oven until meat is brown.
  • Step #2 Drain off fat.
  • Step #3 Stir in tomatoes (with liquid) & remaining ingredients except cheddar cheese: break up tomatoes.
  • Step #4 TO COOK IN SKILLET: heat mixture to boiling.
  • Step #5 Reduce heat, cover & let simmer, stirring every once in awhile until spaghetti is tender, about 30 mins.
  • Step #6 (a small amount of water can be added if necessary.
  • Step #7 ) Sprinkle top with cheese & heat until cheese is melted.
  • Step #8 TO COOK IN OVEN: Pour mixture in ungreased 2 or 2 1/2 quart casserole.
  • Step #9 Cover up & bake this at 375, stirring every once in awhile, until spaghetti is tender, about 45 mins.
  • Step #10 Uncover; sprinkle with cheddar cheese & bake about 5 mins.
