Flaky Southern Biscuits Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c chilled vegetable shortening .
  • 3/4 c cold 2% low-fat milk .
  • 1 tbsp baking powder .
  • 1/2 tsp salt .
  • 2 c all-purpose flour

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 425°F In large bowl, mix flour, baking powder & salt.
  • Step #2 With pastry mixer, cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal.
  • Step #3 Stir in milk until dough holds together.
  • Step #4 Knead genlty about 1 min.
  • Step #5 Roll dough 1/2 inch thick.
  • Step #6 With 2 1/2- to 3-inch biscuit cutter, cut dough.
  • Step #7 Place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Step #8 Bake 12 to 15 mins or until lightly browned.
