Baked Rigatoni Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 garlic, minced .
  • 1 (28 oz) crushed tomatoes .
  • 8 oz coarsely grated mozzarella cheese .
  • 1/4 tsp fresh ground pepper .
  • salt .
  • 1 lb ground meat (beef, pork, or turkey) .
  • 2 tbsps olive oil .
  • 1 c finely grated parmesan cheese .
  • butter, for pan .
  • 1 lb rigatoni pasta, 453 . 59g

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 400F degrees;.
  • Step #2 Bring a large pot of water to a boil; add salt.
  • Step #3 Add pasta; cook this until slightly underdone.
  • Step #4 Drain, rinse in cold water, & drain.
  • Step #5 Toss pasta with 1 tbsp oil to coat.
  • Step #6 Set aside.
  • Step #7 Heat 1 tbsp oil In a large-ish skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Step #8 Add meat.
  • Step #9 Cook, until browned, stirring every once in awhile, about 10 mins.
  • Step #10 Add garlic, 1 tsp salt, & pepper.
  • Step #11 Cook 2 mins more.
  • Step #12 Add tomatoes; simmer until thickened, about 20 mins.
  • Step #13 Butter a 9-inch springform pan.
  • Step #14 Toss pasta with Parmesan cheese.
  • Step #15 Tightly pack pasta into pan, standing each piece on end.
  • Step #16 Spread 2 c meat sauce on top of pasta, pushing it into holes.
  • Step #17 Bake 15 mins.
  • Step #18 Sprinkle top mozzarella on top.
  • Step #19 Bake until cheese is pale golden, 10 to 15 mins more.
  • Step #20 Remove from oven, & let this stand 15 mins.
  • Step #21 Run a knife around edge to loosen; unmold.
  • Step #22 Cut into wedges.
  • Step #23 Serve with remaining sauce.
