Step #1 Mix the salt & baking soda in with the flour, margarine & water into the jar so that would be Brown sugar, sugar, chocolate chips, egg, then layer the ingredients except for the instant coffee, flour mixed with salt & baking soda.
Step #2 Place the instant coffee in a snack size baggie & seal.
Step #3 Attach a gift card with the following instructions:.
Step #4 Coffee Chocolate Chip Cookies.
Step #5 Sift dry ingredients through a colander to separate the chocolate chips from other ingredients.
Step #6 Beat 1 c of unsalted butter or margarine or butter flavored Crisco in a medium bowl.
Step #7 Dissolve the coffee in 2 tbsps hot water.
Step #8 Beat sifted ingredients into butter until mixed.
Step #9 In a small bowl, beat 1 egg with 1 tsp vanilla extract.
Step #10 Mix beaten egg mixture into butter mixture until mixed.
Step #11 Add dissolved coffee & beat again.
Step #12 Stir in chocolate chips.
Step #13 Drop tspsful of batter, spaced well apart, (or roll this into balls) onto a greased cookie sheet.
Step #14 The cookie yield is approximate as I always make large cookies.
Step #15 Bake at 350-375 degrees F for 8 mins or until lightly browned.
