Cornbread Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3/4 c milk (or buttermilk) .
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda .
  • 1 c cornmeal .
  • 1/4 c all-purpose flour .
  • 2/3 tsp salt .
  • 1 medium egg, lightly beaten .
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder .
  • 3 tbsps butter, melted

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat the oven to 450°F Lightly grease a cast iron skillet or mold, & place this in the oven while it’s preheating.
  • Step #2 In a medium bowl, baking powder, mix the cornmeal, baking soda, salt & flour.
  • Step #3 Add the milk, a little at a time until mixd.
  • Step #4 Add the melted butter (still hot) to the mixture, & stir this to mix.
  • Step #5 Add the egg & mix well.
  • Step #6 Remove the hot skillet (or mold) from the oven, & fill with the cornmeal mixture.
  • Step #7 Place it back into oven, & cook this until golden brown, about 15 to 20 mins if you are using a mold or 20 to 25 for a skillet.
  • Step #8 Remove from the oven & unmold onto a rack.
  • Step #9 Best served still hot.
