Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tsp maple extract .
  • 1/4 c butter, softened .
  • 1 large egg .
  • 1/3 c brown sugar .
  • 3/4 c rolled oats .
  • 1 c chocolate chips .
  • 1/4 c vegetable oil or canola oil .
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda .
  • 1/2 tsp salt .
  • 1 c whole wheat flour .
  • 1/3 c white sugar .
  • 1/2 c sliced pecans (optional) or walnuts (optional) .
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (optional) .
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions
  • Step #1 Set oven to 350 degrees.
  • Step #2 Grease a baking sheet/s.
  • Step #3 Grind 3/4 c rolled oats in a mixer or food processor/blender, then transfer to a medium bowl.
  • Step #4 Add in flour, cinnamon (if using) baking soda & salt; mix to mix.
  • Step #5 In a bowl beat butter until fluffy.
  • Step #6 Add in oil, egg, both sugars, vanilla & maple extract; beat until smooth an creamy.
  • Step #7 Add in dry ingredients & mix just until mixd.
  • Step #8 Add in chocolate chips & nuts (if using).
  • Step #9 Drop by heaping tspfuls onto greased baking sheet.
  • Step #10 Bake (one sheet at a time) until firm around the edges & golden on top (about 12-15 mins).
  • Step #11 Cool cookies for 2 mins on sheet then remove to wire rack to cool completely.
