Flank Steak With Lemon Shallot Marinade Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3 lbs flank steaks .
  • 2 tbsps sesame oil .
  • 1/2 c soy sauce .
  • 6 medium sized shallots, coarsely sliced .
  • 1 1/2 c fresh meyer lemon juice

Directions
  • Step #1 Pierce both sides of the flank steak all over with a fork; place meat in a 1-gallon resealable plastic bag.
  • Step #2 Pour the lemon juice in a small bowl & whisk in the soy sauce.
  • Step #3 Add shallots; whisk in the sesame oil.
  • Step #4 Pour about 2/3 c of the marinade inot a microwave-safe container & put in the fridge until needed.
  • Step #5 Pour remaining marinade into the bag with the flank steak & seal, pressing out any excess air.
  • Step #6 Refrigerate the steak overnight; turning once or twice to distribute the marinade evenly.
  • Step #7 Remove the steak from the marinade & disgard the unused marinade.
  • Step #8 Grill or broil the steak until cooked to taste; about 3 to 4 mins per side for rare.
  • Step #9 Let the steak rest for 5 mins.
  • Step #10 Warm the reserved marinade in the microwave & place this in a serving bowl.
  • Step #11 Cut steak against the grain into very thin slices.
  • Step #12 Serve with warmed marinade.
