White Flour Dumplings (little House) Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 c white flour .
  • 1 tsp salt .
  • 1/2-1 c buttermilk .
  • 1 tsp baking soda .
  • 2 c broth

Directions
  • Step #1 Have a kettle of stew or a skillet of broth simmering on the stove.
  • Step #2 In a bowl, mix dry ingredients well.
  • Step #3 Pour in 3/4 c of buttermilk & mix quickly with a fork.
  • Step #4 Your dough should be soft but too moist for rolling; add in the remaining milk if needed.
  • Step #5 With a soup spoon drop the dough onto the bubbling liquid, covering the surface.
  • Step #6 Let simmer on medium low heat until the dumplings puff & lose their gloss (8 to 10 mins).
  • Step #7 Cover up with a lid, reduce heat to low, & let simmer another 8 to 10 mins until dumplings are cooked through.
  • Step #8 Dumplings in a skillet an be cooked uncovered by turning them halfway through.
