Cream Cheese Brownies Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tbsps butter (no substitutes), softened
  • 1/2 c vanilla or white chips
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • FROSTING:
  • 2 tbsps butter
  • 1 (3 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • FILLING:
  • 1 (19.8 oz) package fudge brownie mix
  • 1 oz unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 c confectioners' sugar
  • 1/4 c sugar
  • 1 oz semisweet chocolate
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp orange extract
  • 2 tbsps milk

Directions
  • Step #1 Prepare brownies according to package directions for cake-like brownies; fold in vanilla chips.
  • Step #2 Spread half of the batter in a greased 13-in.
  • Step #3 x 9-in.
  • Step #4 x 2-in.
  • Step #5 baking pan.
  • Step #6 In a small mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, butter & sugar until smooth.
  • Step #7 Beat in egg, flour & orange extract.
  • Step #8 Carefully spread cream cheese mixture over batter.
  • Step #9 Drop remaining brownie batter by tbspfuls over cream cheese layer.
  • Step #10 cut through batter with a knife to swirl.
  • Step #11 Bake at 350 degrees F for 30-35 mins or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out almost clean.
  • Step #12 Cool on a wire rack.
  • Step #13 For frosting, in a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter & chocolate.
  • Step #14 Cool slightly; stir in the confectioners' sugar & enough milk to achieve spreading consistency.
  • Step #15 Frost brownies.
