Christmas Ginger Man Cookies Recipe

Directions

Step #1 Mix shortening, brown sugar & molasses together thoroughly & stir in the the 1/2 c cold water.
Step #2 Sift all the dry ingredients together & stir in theto the creamed sugar/shortening/molasses mixture.
Step #3 Dissolve the baking soda into the 3 TBS.
Step #4 water & stir in theto the cookie batter (make sure to mix well but not overbeat).
Step #5 Chill dough for 3 hrs.
Step #6 Preheat oven to 350º.
Step #7 Break dough apart into fourths (for easier handling).
Step #8 Roll out on floured surface & cut out with your favorite Ginger Man cookie cutter.
Step #9 Transfer to lightly greased cookie sheet & decorate with raisins for the eyes & nose, ginger or cherries for the buttons.
Step #10 Bake 15-18 mins (remember to leave plenty of room for they puff up!).
Step #11 Remove from cookie sheet & let cool on rack.
Step #12 Decorate with your favorite cookie frosting.
