Ice Cream " Souffle " With Hot Strawberry Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 quart fresh strawberries, washed hulled & halved or 3 (10 oz) packages frozen sliced strawberries, thawed .
  • 5 tbsps Grand Marnier .
  • confectioners' sugar .
  • Souffle .
  • 2 c heavy cream .
  • 1/2 c sugar .
  • Hot Strawberry Sauce .
  • 1/2 c toasted almonds, sliced .
  • 5 tbsps Grand Marnier .
  • 12 macaroons, crumbled .
  • 1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream

Directions
  • Step #1 Soften ice cream until stir-able but not melted.
  • Step #2 Stir in crumbled macaroons & Grand Marnier.
  • Step #3 Whip cream till thick & shiny; fold into ice cream.
  • Step #4 Spoon into a mold - an angel food cake pan is just the right size - or use your biggest springform pan.
  • Step #5 Sprinkle top with almonds, dust with sugar, cover with plastic wrap & return to freezer.
  • Step #6 (needs at least 4 hrs to get firm; overnight preferred).
  • Step #7 Unmold onto a serving platter & store this in the freezer until serving time.
  • Step #8 Make the sauce just before serving: Put berries in a saucepan with the sugar.
  • Step #9 Simmer until just soft but not mushy.
  • Step #10 Remove from heat & add Grand Marnier.
  • Step #11 To serve - slice the souffle & top this with hot sauce.
