Chocolate Pound Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder .
  • 1/2 tsp salt .
  • 3/4 c unsweetened cocoa .
  • 1 1/4 c milk .
  • 3 c flour .
  • confectioners' sugar .
  • 5 eggs .
  • 3 c sugar .
  • 1 1/2 c softened butter or margarine .
  • 4 oz grated chocolate .
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

Directions
  • Step #1 Mix flour, cocoa, baking powder & salt in one bowl.
  • Step #2 In another bowl, beat butter until fluffy, slowly adding in the sugar.
  • Step #3 Beat in eggs, one at a time.
  • Step #4 Alternate between adding in the flour mixture & the milk, beginning with the flour.
  • Step #5 Blend in the grated chocolate & vanilla extract.
  • Step #6 Pour into greased & floured tube pan.
  • Step #7 Bake in preheated 350 degrees for 1 hr & 15 mins, or until cake tests done.
  • Step #8 Cool cake in pan for 10 mins, inverting the pan onto a rack (or a glass coke bottle).
  • Step #9 Before serving, dust with confectioner's sugar.
  • Step #10 Can garnish with berries & mint sprigs.
