Home Made Caramels Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tsp vanilla .
  • 2 c sugar .
  • 1 pint whipping cream .
  • 1 c light corn syrup .
  • 1 c sliced & toasted almonds .
  • 4 oz margarine

Directions
  • Step #1 Mix all ingredients together in a non-stick saucepan except 1/2 pint of whipping cream & almonds.
  • Step #2 Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring every once in awhile.
  • Step #3 When a rolling boil is reached (one that can't be stirred out), add the other 1/2 pint of whipping cream.
  • Step #4 Stirring constantly, continue to boil on medium heat, until a very firm ball is formed in cold water (about 30 mins).
  • Step #5 Add almonds & pour this into a very well buttered 9 x 13 glass dish.
  • Step #6 Cool on counter until firm.
  • Step #7 Remove by carefully prying an edge & turning over onto wax paper.
  • Step #8 Cut into squares & wrap in 4" wax paper squares.
  • Step #9 Put in refrigerator for storage.
