Hershey's Black Forest Pudding Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 (19 oz) can cherry pie filling .
  • 1/2 c sugar .
  • 1 c flour .
  • 1/4 c kirsch (cherry brandy, or 2 Tbsp. water plus 1/2 tsp. almond extract) .
  • 1/4 tsp salt .
  • 2 tsps baking powder .
  • 3 tbsps cocoa .
  • 1/2 c milk .
  • 1/2 c light brown sugar, packed .
  • 3/4 c sugar .
  • 1 1/4 c hot water .
  • 1 1/2 tsps vanilla .
  • 1/4 c cocoa .
  • 1/3 c margarine, melted

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Step #2 In large bowl, baking powder, 3 tbsps cocoa, mix ¾ c sugar, flour, & salt.
  • Step #3 Add milk, margarine, & vanilla; beat until smooth.
  • Step #4 Spread into an 8 or 9-inch square pan.
  • Step #5 In small bowl, stir this together ½ c sugar, brown sugar, & ¼ c cocoa; sprinkle mixture evenly over batter.
  • Step #6 Combine hot water & kirsch; pour over batter.
  • Step #7 Do not stir.
  • Step #8 Bake 30-40 mins or until center is almost set.
  • Step #9 Let stand 15 mins; spoon into dessert dishes, spooning sauce from bottom of pan over top.
  • Step #10 Serve with cherry pie filling.
